Weight Loss: Annette Densham

Transformation Update: 22nd December 2022

This week, we celebrate the successful weight loss of Annette Densham. Here’s her story:

I love before and after photos. I look at everyone who posted on this page because a picture is worth a thousand words.

The triumph, joy and pride in changing our lives in the after photos.

The pain, sorrow and discomfort of the before, bravado and probably humour masking the physical and emotional pain in the before photos.

These pictures of me are four years apart at the same event.

I still love red.

I still love glitz and glamour.

I still love to celebrate my wins.

I just do it now in better health, with less dis-ease and a whole lot more energy.

Transformation Update: 7th September 2022

This week, we celebrate the successful weight loss of Annette Densham. Here’s her story:

I thought if I could just get to 85kg, I’d be content. But…I smashed that ages ago!

HW 139kg

SW 131kg

CW 77kg

Did I do that? All in just one year?

The one thing that has made me happy since my surgery is how good I feel. There are no side effects or other health challenges which means it’s been a success, not just for what it did to help with the weight loss but also because of all these other benefits I’ve seen so far!

I’ve gone from a size 22 to a size 10/12. I can see my feet and my bits. I can cross my legs. I can walk 10kms without stopping to rub my back on a random post.

My kid told me the other day that he’d been looking at photos of our family over the years and hadn’t realised “how fat you were”. He has autism so bluntness is his forte. He gave me a hug, telling me how proud he was of me for putting my health first.

When my doctor challenged my preconceived notions on weight loss surgery, she sent me down a rabbit hole seeking research on surgery outcomes for Hashimotos and immune system improvement – my blood recently showed that I’m the healthiest I’ve been for decades.

My thyroid hormones have gone from being so far on the red to being a bee’s whoohaa from normal. Shut the front door!!! My thyroid function has had a kick start for the first time in over 20 years.

The only concern for me is zinc because we can’t get that from our food and when I ran out a few weeks ago and never replaced it, well, I’m paying for it with low energy, dizziness, cold feet and hands, and extreme tiredness, so it’s back on the zinc tablets.

For me, health is the most valuable thing I have. Losing weight is fricking awesome – all the serendipities that go with it – but to be able to breathe freely, move freely and not be sick constantly was time and money well spent.
