This week, we celebrate the successful weight loss of Felicity Henderson. Here’s her story:

What Procedure did you have?

Gastric Sleeve 25/8/22

What was your starting weight/current weight?

Starting Weight: 100.7kg (day of surgery)

Current Weight: 68.1kg

Why did you want to have your procedure?

I felt really unhealthy and ashamed of how I looked in the mirror and when I stepped on the scale as compared to what I used to look like even when I was 45. I had high blood pressure and was on 4 tablets per day to control it. Now I am down to ½ tablet per day with normal blood pressure. I also had many other health conditions which escalated due to my inability to control my weight. I suffered severe sleep apnea and snored loud enough to wake the dead! Nearly ready to hand the machine over to my husband. I was feeling old and unhappy because I was turning 50 in May last year and as a Birthday present to myself, I wanted to make a change. We were also going on a family trip to Bali and wanted to feel good about wearing swimmers without feeling embarrassed as well as simply enjoy myself without burden.

How were you feeling in your “THEN” photos?

Disgusting, unhappy and depressed and I used to remember how I felt when I lost weight by yo-yo dieting. Believe me, I tried every diet imaginable. I looked and felt terrible about myself.

How are you feeling NOW?

I feel amazing, happier, healthier, fitter and energetic. I live in Far North Coast NSW and was a homebody before my sleeve but now I want to go to the beach, and creek, walk in the hinterland as well as go out with family and friends without feeling ashamed. I now exercise 6 days per week and eat healthier smaller portions. I am excited still about what is to come and being 50 is not too bad at all! 

What has been your most memorable Non-Scale Victory?

Looking at my shadow when I walk and seeing a skinnier version of myself. Walking past the shop’s front windows and seeing a different person walking by. Being able to fit back into my old clothes that I kept just in case and those clothes being too big, which is just like a new wardrobe. 

What was your experience like with the WLSA team? 

The WLSA team have been amazing. Any questions that I have or worries they have always contacted me to support me throughout the process. Thank you WLSA.

Is there anything else you’d like to include in your Story?

The Gastric Sleeve has definitely changed my life for the better. It hasn’t been easy, but nothing is ever easy. I am proud of my achievements and what is yet to come. As my late mother said, ‘Enjoy the journey, you will never pass this way again.’ How true is that!
