This week, we celebrate the successful WeightLoss of Kim Gatley. Here’s her story:

Hi everyone,

My name is Kim Gatley, and I am 58 years old. 14 months ago I underwent Gastric Sleeve surgery and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made! I now have this amazing tool to use and it has changed my life.

My starting weight was 148.5kg and currently I weigh 88.5kg. Yes I finally made it into the 80kg zone. One of my secret life long dreams was to be able to fit into size 18 jeans and to weigh around 80kgs, and I am now able to do both. What a happy dance I did plus a few tears. Now of course, I want size 16 jeans.

I think it is very important to measure ourselves throughout this journey, as sometimes our weight does not change but our measurements do. My starting measurements compared to my current measurements -Bust 135cm Bust 105cmWaist 134cm Waist 101cmHips 165cm Hips 117cm

My life has changed so much, I am fitter and healthier, and so much happier than I once was. I am off nearly all my medications and I feel fantastic, I can actually see some of the difference. I can play with my grandkids – only yesterday I was playing on the swings and see saws with them, I could not have done that before my surgery, I could barely stand up for 5mins. 

I feel so much more confident around people, I am not embarrassed and scared to be seen. I no longer worry or imagine what people are saying about me.

Everyone’s journey is different. I have just gone through a 2 month stall but I am now starting to lose weight again. We all have to remember that it took us years to put our weight on so it is going to take time to get it off again. 

The support, help and guidance I have received, not just from WLS but everyone on our site, I can only say thank you to you all.
