Weight Loss: Adam Bilsy

Transformation Documentary 18th December 2019 – #YesYouCan Adam Bilsy’s Weight Loss Journey

Weight loss has significantly contributed to the way my life and lifestyle is. The more weight I lose, the more “risks” I can take in life. All of a sudden, I’m on Lego Masters TV Show, I have a newborn baby, I bought a house and I’m getting married in New York! It only gets better & better. Now I’m thinking, what’s next?

Lego Masters was straight filming from morning till night, there’s no way I would have been able to stand up for the long days of filming day.

Although I’m on TV for Lego Masters, the mainstream media wants to know about my weight loss. I was featured on TV Week magazine cover and several podcasts. Weight loss surgery no longer a taboo subject!

I got noticed as a person. Once upon a time, I was happy to sit behind the mic using my voice as me, but now, my whole lifestyle has changed, the way i think about myself has changed, I want to be on stage, in front of camera and I wish I was on TV more! I want to be a TV presenter!

I loved getting noticed as a celebrity beyond just my voice – a lot of people know my voice because I’ve been in radio for 10 years. Now people know how I look like, they recognise me at the shops, ask for a photo – it’s a good feeling to walk around having people notice me but not be ashamed of how I look like at the same time.

It wasn’t long ago when I couldn’t go on fun rides because the safety catches couldn’t fit me. But after weight loss, I’ve done Disneyland, Legoland & Universal Studios in Tokyo! No checking at all, just go line up, get on the ride & repeat. Now it’s catch up time!

So bite your bottom lip and just do it! There’s no downside to weight loss surgery – you are changing your life for 100% better than what it is now. When was the last time you took a flight and didn’t upset the person next to you? Economy flight feels like business class to me now, I can even put down the table tray and bring it forward!

When was the last time you went to the cinemas and felt comfortable? You don’t realise what’s in front of you until you do it. Lose the weight and let the good stuff happen!

Yes you can do it, because you’re doing it for yourself.

Transformation Documentary 19th June 2019 – This week, we celebrate the successful Weight Loss of Adam Bilsy. Here’s his story:

When #Bilsy (yes, as seen on Lego Masters) realised that he was overweight in high school, he started a chain of thoughts and actions that became second nature. He will take the aisle seat at movies so he could lean back and not annoy the person next to him. He understood the empty seat next to him on theme park rides is simply because people doesn’t want to be squished!

As more and more “What If” scenarios hit Adam’s “I’m the fat guy” mindset, he made excuses that held him back from living his best life, from missing out on a ski trip to being “happy” just to be a voice-over so he could hide behind the stage. Adam chose to be a radio presenter because everyone could hear his voice but not able to see him. He bought business class seats not to be fancy – it was simply too embarrassing to buy two economy seats.

It was FOOD that resulted in his obesity. From poor food choices at school canteen to unhealthy eating habits during high school years – eating out more and eating worse food became a vicious pattern.

“You’re the big guy, full stop”. The public eyes don’t look at overweight people and say let’s talk and see how we can turn it around. “You don’t have cancer, you don’t have diabetes, there’s nothing wrong with you, you’re just overweight.” There was nothing available in the society to talk about obesity as a disease.

Adam went on a diet rollercoaster for years, he lost 50kg from a bootcamp once but returned to bad lifestyle routine too soon. It was when his pants got too tight again that he realised he’s reached 185kg and wondered how did it happen?

“It’s scary when you give up hope. When you get to a certain size, you sold yourself on the idea that it’s alright to be big, that’s the normal life. It’s scary to be happy when you’re negative.” says Adam.

Adam’s tip for you if you’re overweight or obese: Take the first hit yourself!

Adam invites you to have a conversation @thelosersbenchau on Instagram. He’s now a fully qualified personal trainer with the goal of creating a supportive space for overweight and obese people to train together. He’s reached his first goal of losing 50kg within a year, got engaged and went on national TV to build his favourite LEGO!

If you’re still hiding in the dark about your weight issues, Adam wants to be your buddy because yes, you can lose weight too.

Obesity is a crippling disease.

Join the #YesYouCan Movement. Don’t Fight Obesity, END IT.

Transformation Update 1st May 2019:

“Thanks to WLSA for my surgery and life-changing experience.

I’m now super proud to show my new lifestyle, I’m no longer hiding behind just my voice as a radio presenter, I’m actually so confident to show my real image on national TV!

I’m a contestant on LEGO Masters, building crazy ideas and having fun. Without the new me, there’s no way I would be able to last 15 hours of full-on filming on set and still be proud of what I have achieved.”

Transformation Update 4th June 2018

This week, we celebrate the successful Weight Loss of Adam Bilsy.

Here’s his story:

I’m now coming up to a year in my WLS journey and have passed 50kg of weight loss. I feel amazing I look at myself in the mirror and my confidence is through the roof. I have the drive to train every day and I have also taken on fight training.

Some people will think that 50kg this far into it isn’t enough and why I haven’t lost so much. My weight loss plateaued and I didn’t lose any weight for a good 6 weeks, and this was because I was naive about it all.

One thing I have now learnt and will use for the rest of my life is that I know how to eat right. Not only eating right but eating at the correct times and changing my lifestyle to suit this healthy way.

This has become second nature to me now and wants to show others how to do it. On top of my own training is now also a personal trainer and focusing on obese and WLS client.

Transformation Update October, 2018

I am now at 4 months post op and feeling great! I have lost a total of 40kg and it has changed my life and mindset more than I could ever imagine.

Now, I automatically focus on good healthy habits and mindful eating as if its second nature. You always know that you are going to lose weight and you hope life will get better.

But the difference in my weight and my whole life, in general, is amazing. I am at a solid point now where I am getting excited to see what the future holds.

I have become passionate about this and I want to start helping people who want to follow my journey, hence I have recently become a qualified Personal Trainer and accepted to be the guest speaker at the next WLSA Reclaim Your Life event.

Transformation Update 2nd Sept 2018

This week, we celebrate the successful WeightLoss of Adam Bilsy.

Here’s his story:

I’ve always been a bigger guy and two years ago I decided to try and do something about it. So I turned to clean eating and very high-intensity exercise. My eating was so on track I weighed and timed everything I counted my macros and was having many supplements every day. But it was working and in fact, I held it for over 12 months and lost 50kgs and was on top of the world. At this time I have done some travelling and came home to realise I gained a little bit of weight and lost momentum. Went back to normal living prior to WeightLoss.

2 years later I have gained back that 50kgs and added another 10 and was sitting back at a very unhappy 180kg. This was when I realised I knew I could lose weight but could never sustain it. After knowing a few people that had weight loss surgery via WLSA my mind was made up. So I spoke to the guys at WLSA and realised I not only needed it but wanted it.

I’m now 4 weeks post op, including the 3 weeks on the VLCD diet I have lost 28kgs. I feel great about it and I feel so much better already in my day to day activities. I get excited now about what could be ahead and losing that original first 50kg and more. I know the surgery will now also help me not regain the weight and I think that is the most exciting thought that floats around in my head. Knowing that now when I lose weight it’s not going to come back.

From the CEO of WLSA

Adam has an infectious positive energy about him that makes us all so excited to be working with him on his weight loss journey. His determination to achieve with improving his health and setting himself up for a fabulous future will ensure the results he is looking for. His story definitely echoes many others I am familiar with in the sense that our patients are some of the most successful dieters you will ever meet. The problem is sustaining the results. Yo-yo dieting is in the end so unhealthy. Establishing good healthy habits for life is what we hope to achieve for all patients post-surgery. Adam is great at being personally accountable and he is willing to commit to working with the team. Attitude is definitely a major contributor to success. Positive, optimistic, happy and always with a huge smile on his face, Adam’s ongoing results are going to be exciting to watch.

Thank you for joining team WLSA “Bilsy”, we all love having you as part of the WLSA family.
