Wonderful Weight Loss: Natasha Sheahan
This week, we celebrate the successful weight loss of Natasha Sheahan. Here’s her story:
My name is Tash and I was sleeved on the 8th of August 2017. I’m only 5 months post surgery now. I can’t believe how much my life has changed!
In July 2016 I made the decision to look into weight loss surgery.
I came across WLSA doing a Google search and after a quick phone call, I knew it was the place for me. I organised my private health insurance and that was the start of my journey. I used the 12 month waiting period for my PHI wisely and began researching recipes and asking questions about the fantastic WSLA support Facebook group. I made sure I was as prepared as I possibly could be. I truly believe preparation is the key to success! In May 2017 I had my consultation appointment at WLSA and the staff were brilliant! I was starting to get excited!
I was booked in for August! The time rolled around so quickly! And my head was definitely in the game, I was ready!
Surgery day came and went… I was lucky enough to have no problems, but in my mind failure was not an option! I wasn’t going to be the big girl with a pretty face anymore!
I prepped out my meals for each stage of the different diets and took my vitamins religiously.
I started to go for daily walks, I was feeling better and better every day!!
I work for a local newspaper and whilst doing advertising for our local YMCA the director noticed I had lost some weight and we discussed my sleeve. During this discussion he suggested I take part in their 10-week challenge, what did I have to lose? Other than the weight of course!
So I did.
Pre-op there is no way I would have done the challenge, pre-op there is no way I would have finished the challenge, pre-op there is no way I would have WON the challenge. I actually took out the top prize in the challenge. There was a lot more to it than just the weight loss side. I made my sleeve quite public with articles in the paper I worked for (my editor thought it would be a nice feel-good piece) and the support I have received is incredible!!
I am smashing goals all over the place, not huge ones… Just small realistic goals I have set for myself. My starting weight pre-op was 128.5kg (not my heaviest weight) I am currently down to 89kg!!
My entire life is changing a little more every day. I run around with my 3-year-old son… No longer a sideliner, my relationship with my hubby, although was always good, has gotten so much better with my new found body confidence, I am going to the gym – doing challenges and regular exercise, my work has even improved! Smashing budgets & getting bonuses and I no longer have to go straight to the plus size clothes section anymore!! Which I haven’t been able to do since my early teens!
I can’t recommend this surgery enough or the team at WSLA – the support is second to none and without it, I wouldn’t be where I am on my journey right now.
Some of my friends and family walk straight passed me on the street not realising it is me… Not gonna lie, it gives me quite the boost! Sometimes I even get a glimpse of my own reflection in a shop window and just smile and think wow! How things have changed.
My goal weight is in my sights and for the first in my life I know I am going to achieve it.
I was sleeved on the 8th of August 2017, I have almost lost 40kg and I am never going back to the way I was before!
