Wonderful WeightLoss: Danieka Cope
[UPDATE]
This week, we celebrate the successful Weight Loss of Danieka Cope. Here’s her story:
So now I’m 65kgs down and never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought I could be under the weight I was when I first met my husband.
I have so much more energy to do the things I never thought I’d be able to do again or things I never used to enjoy because I was embarrassed. Things like going to the beach, the gym, shopping or just going out in general. I enjoy going to the gym with my husband, the beach and I have picked up quite a shopping addiction and I no longer have the anxiety issues I used to.
The gastric sleeve was the best decision of my life!

Danieka looks absolutely stunning with 53kgs weight loss at just 9 months post sleeve gastrectomy. She is loving her new self and life in general. Apart from a minor setback and having her gallbladder removed she has had a dream run.
We love her enthusiasm and desire to lead a healthy happy future and so happy she chose this path before getting close to 30. With the rest of her life to look forward to she is now at far less risk of diabetes; high blood pressure, height cholesterol and all the other medical conditions associated with excess weight.
Don’t wait to take control of your future today!

This week, we celebrate the successful WeightLoss of Danieka Cope. Below is her story..
So I’ve been on the larger scale ever since I was young. I had tried diet after diet and exercise regimes but they never seemed to stick. It was until I took a fall, dislocated my knee and split tendons in my ankle that it finally sunk in how big I had gotten, because the brace I had to wear needed modification just to fit me. I was so embarrassed, I got to the point where I didn’t want to leave the house because I couldn’t stand the thought of people judging me. I would have panic attacks just seeing people I had known for years, including my best friend.
A really close friend of mine was telling me about how she had lost all weight and which picked my interest. She was telling about how nice and supportive the staff at WLSA had been for her and I started asking questions. So onto Google I got and started my research. I sent thru an enquiry to which Felicity, we spoke for a few weeks and she invited to me join the information evening via a live webinar coverage. I had so many questions at this point to which every single one was answered.
I then booked my appointments and a date was set!
I was determined when I started my pre-op diet that nothing stood in my way. Not chocolates, not lollies, not even KFC. I stuck it out and lost around 7kg, I was over the moon!
Then came the operation day. I was so nervous (being my first ever operation and my first ever stay in a hospital) but I had never felt so sure about anything in my life. I wanted it so bad. The nurses and surgeons were incredible. Not once did i feel uncomfortable. They were so caring and friendly at the Wesley’s, it’s the best first hospital experience.
The first few days were easy because I didn’t feel like eating or drinking but I made myself drink as much as I could. The next two weeks of liquids was a breeze. At this stage, I had only told the girls I work with and my partner. They were nothing but supportive and all helped me keep on top of my liquids.
Then came the puree, which I feel was the hardest 2 weeks of the whole thing. Trying to get all your nutrition in mash form is hard. I still had my soups but of a thicker consistency and puree fruit. I couldn’t do puree meat at all.
The soft food stage was everything I had dreamed of for 4 weeks! The first mouthful was absolute heaven – just to be able to chew and feel like I had eaten real food. I definitely had a new appreciation for food. Having to remember to eat slowly and chew my food until it was puree was a bit tricky sometimes, especially at work.
Now at almost 5 months post op, I can eat almost anything. I am finding pork and bread sit for a long time and do cause a bit of discomfort but other than that, I am loving the change in my food preferences. I used to be a huge sweet tooth but now I would much prefer to have savoury foods. I’m also in love with food I didn’t care much for previously. I have so much more appreciation for food now.
I have lost a total of 37.8kg and really loving life now, with only 10kg to go until I reached my first goal weight. I have so much more energy, I sleep a full night now and not to mention, I go out in the public with no more panic attacks. I joined Zumba this year and loving the classes, something I always wanted to do but was too afraid because everyone would see my wobbly bits.
I cannot thank the staff at WLSA enough for my new lease on life. You have been there every step of the way and always been able to help answer my questions. I loved the workshop at the 6 weeks mark and our shopping adventure, to learn how to read the labels and know the difference in good and bad foods. To everyone at WLSA, you are all amazing at what you do!
Kind regards
Danieka
